It's all a matter of perspective
Hello my beautiful angels, cuties, and lovers. I think it's safe to say that I finally feel like myself again. And by that I mean, I'm doing my hair and looking at beautiful images and things don't feel so frenetic anymore. I'm even listening to more Lana Del Rey again. Your mind is sort of a bouncing, leaping thing that you have to take care of. And a couple of years ago, after reading The Mind's I, I got obsessed with the "hard problem of consciousness," which is a also an

Hot Literati at Miu Miu Select
Last night, I, hailo, went to Miu Miu on 57th st to celebrate Joey King's selections. I took the train uptown, reading an unpublished novel by a friend. I'm lucky to have the second copy. And then I got there and waitedin a brief line. I checked in, took a photo, and went upstairs where I put a Miu Miu coin Into a vending machine and received some stickers. I met a nice couple from New Jersey and saw a beautiful blue dress that reminded me of Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

An Appetite for Life
Glow Up Week: Let Yourself Have Desires Welcome back to your weekly reset inside of Hot Literati <3 Glow Up Week One question I've asked myself obsessively over the past few years is "why am I who I am"? I find It's the swirly sort of question that can leave you looking at blank space for a bit. I've liked the idea of "glowing up" ever since I found a beauty blog at 12 years old and visited the same site every single day. Especially during the summer. I like the idea of "glow

Invitation to a Beheading
and the hard problem of consciousness I remember realizing the hard problem of consciousness at around 6 years old. I was playing with Barbies beside the bookshelf my grandfather built me and It just struck me, all at once, that everybody had their own mind and that that made a lot of minds in the whole entire world. It was one of those ideas that scared me so much as a child that I sort of walked back from it, in my own mind. I think perhaps, this mutual obsession is one of

Stop Trying to Fall in Love
If you want to get anything done hello my beautiful angels, I am writing this at 10:34 in the evening. Tonight I got dinner with my lovely friend who just moved to New York from London, and then we popped into a karaoke bar to sing Like a Prayer by Madonna together. It astonishes me how some people are too shy for karaoke, but then I look back at myself two years ago and I was too shy for karaoke. On Labeling Yourself I used to be very shy, actually. Sometimes I still can be,

How to Eat for Happiness
Good morning my beautiful angels, I know the rhythm of this blog has been sort of funny lately, I just like to write as things come up and I'm trying to get better about writing about things that I go to, as well. And I sort of like the idea of people stumbling onto Hot Literati and having a lot to read through. Today, I want to talk about health and happiness, because learning more about it definitely changed my life. When I was a teenager, I struggled with body image as mos

Hot Literati at On the Rag
hello all of my beautiful Hot Literatis. i have an undying love of the morning. I love the mornings. Fresh brain, and the way light is pure when it hits the trees, even in a place as urban as New York. I'm having some wind-y thoughts today so i'm going to do my best to walk you through them all with me. First off, I'd like to state The Importance of Having a Blog I attended this Startup Grind event where this Venture Captialist Charlie O'Donnell pointed to blogging as the "br

God Save the Scene!
hello beautiful angels, princesses, and other people of the Hot Literati Universe. I’m so happy you’re here. Tomorrow, I'll post the winning essay of our April Competition, but for today, I’m going to tell you about some of my favorite open mics in New York and some things that I did recently! God Save the Scene Reading Yesterday, I joined my friend Chris at a reading series by GOD SAVE THE SCENE at a gallery off of Canal Street. There were a lot of great satirical pieces, a

My Day as, not a Puppy, but an angel
hello beautiful angels, princes, and people of the Hot Literati Digital and irl universe I guess the thing that i'm trying to get at at this point in my life is that life is a marathon, or like trying to walk on water and that you can't look down, or else you fall and settle for a path that isn't yours. When I used to lie next to my ex on the precipice of our breakup during my stretch as a twenty-one year old tradwife, i used to hear this voice in my head that said "i won't b

I am nothing if not an influencer
hello beautiful angels of the Hot Literati Universe. I hope that you are happy and also having a nice time. I'm drinking my first cup of coffee. It is 9:30. I went to the gym and ran three miles. A familiar face came up to me at the gym and told me that I'd gained weight so he didn't recognize me. He was one of the old(er) people I know just from walking around and being chatty. A year ago, hearing that would have devastated me, but I feel really happy with where I'm at and m

I love life I love Kansas I love New York
hello cuties and beautiful angels of the Hot Literati Universe. I am in Kansas visiting my parents for a few days. Whenever I’m in New York and I tell someone that I’m from Kansas, their jaw sort of drops. At the door to clubs, I used to make jokes like clicking my heels and a few Halloween’s ago, I even dressed up at Dorothy for an eventful night at Knockdown. My heels were red and my feet bled, but I had a really good time. What’s a blister or two? Overall, I’m always happy

I don't feel like myself
Spring Cleaning! shop my closet here -- all items are available until 2pm ET Thursday! And then I will be travelling and won't be able 2 ship <3 I’ve had this feeling for a while like I want to crawl out of my own skin. Like there is a me inside of me that I don’t understand and haven’t met yet. I really like making music because it’s like a piece of art that you can crawl into and live inside of. One that can make you feel a certain way. Brian Nuckols said on his podcast t

Hot Literati in Wichita, Kansas
hello beautiful people of the Hot Literati Universe. For those of you that don't already know this, I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. Which I was also recently told is the birthplace of Mr. Beast. I come home often, because the people are kind and humble and the sky feels so big in Kansas. I think of myself as a sort of nomad these days, wandering around a lot, a little lost but mostly happy. Wichita has changed a lot since I was a little girl, in really beautiful way

Hot Literati @ Jean's
hello cuties, angels, and lovers. If you know me, then you know that I strongly believe that life is about walking around and saying hello to a lot of people. That being said, I am going to resume telling you about some of the places I went and the people I saw! Starting with Jean's. Jean's is an iteration of the "club-straunt." Classier than Tao, it's a restaurant on top with a club in the basement. I'd been hearing about Jean's for years, ever since Grub Street did a fun Ti
