Role Models & Air Fryers

Hello happy Monday!

I just finished reading two biographies back to back. One was about a famous entrepreneur and politician and one was about a famous writer.

My boyfriend and I spoke about how the first lived a very social, outward life, while the latter lived a very insular life even though she spent so much time writing about community and journaling about how much she craved it. (full list of books I've read this year)

I guess as I’ve gotten older, I’ve wanted to meet more people, hear their stories, and encourage them, more than I’ve wanted them to read my writing, and I think that’s reflected in the development of Hot Literati from a blog or a Substack or a TikTok page into a full-fledged platform.

Now, Hot Literati is flourishing into a proper community, both digital and irl, of really lovely people with shared interests. The goal from the the beginning has been to connect hot, cool, well-read people, and will remain that for ages to come.

It's nothing without you all and I'm always really happy when you share your thoughts on a book, film, album, a big question about life, or a creative project that you're working on.

Thank you for being a Hot Literati, and here are some updates from Inside the Hot Literati Universe...

Inside the Hot Literati Universe

Digital

Our digital community is growing and I'm so excited about it

  • Book Club - our book club room has 95 Literati and we're reading The Waves by Virginia Woolf right now. You can join live on Sunday evenings or comment on our weekly threads

  • Music - we have 40 Literati in the music room. I accidentally deleted my phone's ability to keep playlists, so I've been sharing songs I find. Jason has shared some gems, and Shanice reminded us all of the beauty of music videos.

  • Bible Study - the Bible Study room has 40 Literati. I share some of my thoughts as I read, and new member Bucket gave us some really interesting context about the Bible, academia, and how we read it based on who we are

Those are just some of the rooms. I'm making new ones when members request them, and you can join as few or as many as you'd like

IRL!

We're doing lots of irl stuff in New York this summer. Once we hit our cap of 1,000 members, I'll have a better idea of where everyone is and will be able to do more rotating events in different places (and host events with active members <333)

Little Deaths/Delights

every Monday, we celebrate 3 things and let go of 3 others. Here are mine

Little Deaths

  • attaching to my past

  • self-doubt

  • Identifying too heavily with people (especially role models)

Little Delights

Ok that's all! Thanks for being here. If you're not a member, we would love to have you. And don't forget that your life is a sort of thing you can take the reigns of.

all my love
